RECAP | FIRST FRIDAY ACADEMY: Self-Development for Desired Walks of Life
Saturday, 05-01 2019

I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're doing something.
- Neil Gaiman
In the efforts of creating an enriching environment in which students learn not only from academic lecturers but also from highly experienced professionals, the ISB Leadership Program has launched First Friday Academy – a series of soft skills seminars and workshops that will be held on the first Friday of every month.

Yesterday – Friday 4 January, the very first seminar to welcome 2019 to our door was delivered by Kelly Wong, currently the Group CFO of KIDO Group. Kelly arrived at Tan Son Nhat Airport 14 years ago with merely no clue of what Vietnam had in store for him. 14 years later, he’s now an inspirational leader with an extensive background in Finance and M&A. His life stories showcased a vivid and realistic picture of how a career path could be developed. More importantly, how our students could learn to nurture themselves – professionally, emotionally, and spiritually – in order to build up a successful career and to lead a happy & pleasant life.
One key takeaway from his session was that amongst the many choices that life offers us, one shouldn’t be afraid to choose, and to make trials & errors; regardless the results that follow because as time never waits for anyone, it's better to just try then figure out what we don't like than to sit around and do nothing, hoping to get the right answer.
With such a good start, we hope to bring in more inspirational guest speakers to connect with ISB students.
